The goals in the course are to understand and appreciate the:
1. diversity of the organisms known as plants.
2. structure and physiology of flowering vascular plants.
3. interactions of plants with other organisms and with the environment.
4. ecological role of plants in the biosphere.

Exams:
1. The lecture exams will consist of objective (multiple choice) and essay questions.
2. Each laboratory practical will consist of approximately 40 short answer questions set up in the laboratory.
3. The final exam will probably include essay questions and a crossword puzzle.

Laboratory:
1. Monday from 1:30 until 4:30
2. Attendance is mandatory. Please do not schedule appointments during this time.
3. The laboratory manuals will be taken up periodically and some of the questions graded (points for laboratory papers). I might ask for the lab manuals at any time so you will NOT necessarily receive advance warning.
4. You will be growing plants during the term and keep a notebook about the growth and development of your plants. This group effort will be worth 25 points. Specific information and instructions will be provided for this activity.
