Arkansas Academy of Science 89th Annual Meeting
April 8th and 9th, 2005 at Hendrix College
The 89th meeting of the Arkansas Academy of Sciences will be held on the April 8 and 9 at Hendrix College. Their are two sets of links at the bottom of this page which provide the information you need for registration, submission of abstracts, travel, and other details of the meeting.
Most of the meeting sessions will be held in the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Life Science, a newly constructed building housing the Departments of Biology and Psychology. The Interactive Map link provides details on how to get to this building and all others on campus.

Keynote Speaker
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Gary W. Barrett, a leading landscape ecologist. He currently serves as the Odum Professor of Ecology in the Institute of Ecology at the University of Georgia. He has written five books and over 160 publications. Dr. Barrett has been active in numerous organizations and has served as president of the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the US section of the International Association for Landscape Ecology, and the Association for Ecological Research Centers.
Important Information About Presentations
Some of the presentation rooms (DWR 10 and 13) are wired with Macintosh computers and LCD projectors. DWR 08 and 137 have Windows-based computers. There will also be 2X2 slide and overhead projectors available. For those of you preparing Power Point presentations using PCs, your disks will work in the Macs, but sometimes there are formatting issues between the platforms. This can result in color changes to backgrounds and the loss of some fonts and symbols, so you should check your presentation on a Macintosh in advance. Presentations will also run more smoothly if large graphic files are compressed as much as possible. For those of you with your own lap top computers, we can connect them directly to the LCD projector.
Parking
You may park in any of the visitor or unmarked spaces in any of the parking lots on the Hendrix College campus. Parking spots designated as wheelchair or service spots are reserved 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will be ticketed if you park illegally in these spots. (No lot is more than a 2 to 3 minute walk to the center of campus where the meeting is being held (DW Reynolds building.)

Several Conway hotels are offering special rates for this meeting. The rooms will be available on the 7th and 8th of April for the (8-9 April meeting dates.) Members will need to mention the Arkansas Academy of Science to get the group rate. There is a link at the bottom of the page for information about all Conway hotels.
